Mauser M1935: Corrosion

The two barrel profile videos on this page show the inner surfaces of the barrel of the following weapon:

  • Weapon: Mauser M1935
  • Caliber: 7×57
  • Barrel length = 29.3 inches
  • Number of grooves/fields = 4
  • Twist length = 8.66 inches
  • Year of manufacture: 1935
  • Firing load: unknown

LA-L (linear axial barrel profile video)

The LA-L shows corrosive changes to the barrel surface in the axial view. The corrosion increases towards the transition cone.

LR-L (linear radial barrel profile video)

In the LR-L, the changes in the surface are now visible from above. These appear to be changes in surface roughness in the form of corrosion scars, similar to those seen on ‘rusty metal surfaces’ after they have been cleaned of rust.
