Hawken Rifle: Muzzle Loader
The two barrel profile videos on this page show the inner surfaces of the barrel of the following weapon:

For barrel profile videos in muzzle loaders, the rear-closed barrel (powder chamber) results in a special methodological feature:
In linear axial barrel profile videos (LA-L), the light intensity of the LEDs integrated in the video head is usually not sufficient to assess the rifling/fields in the 0° view.
IBoWV has developed a corresponding lighting technology to achieve higher light intensities. The previous barrel profile video shows the result with ‘standard exposure’. In comparison, the following LA-L shows the result with special lighting technology.
Due to increased space requirements, the special lighting technology is not applicable to all calibres. We can provide more detailed information on this upon request via the contact form.
LA-L (linear axial barrel profile video)
The LA-L clearly shows the grooves/fields. The recording was made using special lighting technology, as the brightness of the LEDs integrated into the video head is insufficient.
No corrosion or deposits are visible.
LR-L (linear radial barrel profile video)
With the LR-L, the surface of the barrel interior can now be assessed in accordance with the four viewing directions. No special lighting technology is required for this. The lighting conditions are similar to barrels of breech-loading guns.
However, the weapon has an octagonal barrel. This requires a special procedure for producing the LR-L, which can be seen in the alignment of the mirror: unlike cylindrical barrels, where the weapon is rotated automatically, the mirror is rotated manually between passes in octagonal barrels.
As the weapon is in new condition according to the owner, any irregularities, such as scratches, are attributable to the manufacturing process.
